Police hunting for a missing schoolgirl are today investigating the discovery of a body in woodland less than a mile from her home.
Officers searching for teenager Paige Doherty, who vanished on her way to her Saturday job, were alerted to the grim find yesterday.
Her mother Pamela Munro, 32, had posted on social media that she was 'worried sick' after her 15-year-old daughter failed to show up for work at a hairdresser's and had not been in touch with any of her friends or family.

Investigation scene: Police and forensics officers at the spot where a female body was found

Police broke the news that a passer-by had stumbled across a female body at around 12.45pm yesterday close to a golf range and five-a-side football pitches at a retail park on the A82 Great Western Road in Clydebank.
A large area of the park and the A82's eastbound carriageway were immediately sealed off as forensics teams flooded the area searching for clues.

Paige, who is only 4ft 8in, left a friend's house at 8.15am on Saturday in Angus Street, Clydebank.
She had been due to catch a bus to Kirkintilloch, almost 15 miles away, where she worked at Street Image Hairdressing.
